The boys asked for a break on Saturday to just "chill" and let them "poop at will" as Isaac said. The public toilets don't have toilet seats, so he does have a point. Matt and I decided to get some exercise and we took a long walk through Chapultapec Park. It was a crisp, sunny morning and there were many people out running and bicycling. We ended up on the far end of the park where the zoo is and discovered it's free, so we decided to walk through the zoo, too. We don't usually go to zoos on our trips since it's hard to top San Diego's and this was the case here too. They did try to have some more humane enclosures with rivers running through some, etc., but I pretty much left sad. You could see the animals much better since they were in such confined spaces, but they didn't look happy.
Today we had tickets for the Ballet Folklórico at the Palacio de Bellas Artes and it was superb. The dancing and music was incredible and the costumes were absolutely gorgeous. We loved it! We got cheaper seats since there are five of us, which were up in the highest section, but I think it was a better vantage point from there because the stage was so deep and those twirling skirts were so beautiful! You would not have been able to see all the dancers or appreciate their skirts on their level. It was fantastic—one of our favorite experiences yet.
More for "isn't that interesting":
- Instead of saying adiós for goodbye, most people (young people especially) say ciao.
- There is a ton of PDA here. Emilio, the man we met in Puebla, said it's because there are still some pretty conservative views on dating and it's pretty serious if you're officially going out on a date. He also said there isn't any PDA if you're hanging out around your family, so that's why you see so many couples making out like crazy in parks, at the zoo, on the metro, in restaurants . . .
