Jake requested we let him sleep in for his 17th birthday, so we honored his request. We had to take the rental car back, so we all went and then found a fantastic French bistro for breakfast. Food is so cheap here, it's kind of hard to believe. This was an incredibly good breakfast with the most amazing freshly baked breads, fresh squeezed juices and incredible hot chocolate and it was $40 for all five of us. There were a team of waiters pulling out chairs for me, keeping our bread basket full, pushing the elevator button for us when we needed to go upstairs to the restroom, there were cloth napkins bound with napkin rings . . . amazing how they can do all that for so little.
Jake's next request was a movie, so we walked up the boulevard from the bistro to the mall. The boys were laughing because they said it was really nice and everyone was speaking Spanish—just like Fashion Valley! The stores were largely the same as home and prices were about the same as home. It's funny how many stores are the same everywhere we go. I expected McDonalds and Walmart, but there's also Krispy Kreme, Home Depot, 7-11, Circle K, California Pizza Kitchen, Blockbuster, and many more.
Since Luke was limping, we brought him back to the condo after the movie and intended on going back out, but it began raining, so I made dinner for a change while Matt headed out in the rain to find a cake for Jake. He brought home an incredibly delicious pan de dulce and then we topped off the night with a little Monty Python.
