We took a guided tour to Teotihuacán today which is about 30 miles north of the city. They picked us up at 6am which was brutal since we've been on San Diego time and staying up late, but it was worth it. They say the lines to climb the pyramids can get an hour and a half long and we only had our tour group of about 15 people and a handful of others, so it was great.
These pyramids were built between 100 and 450 AD, 1000 years before the Aztecs. As the population grew and areas fell into disrepair, they'd just build another layer upon what was already there, so there are layers upon layers of ruins.

You can see where stairs were built upon stairs above. This part was just discovered about 10 years ago when a section of roof collapsed in a rainstorm.
We climbed everything we could climb and the steps were incredibly steep! We were thankful we're a family with lots of long legs because some people were sitting and scooching when descending, taking it one stair at a time while Jake and Ike were racing to the top. The views were phenomenal —this is an amazing place!

Today was the first day we've had any rain though the forecast has called for rain every day. We were lucky though as we'd already made it back to the condo, had eaten, and were collapsed in a heap to watch a movie after a long day.
